Benefits of Plants Research
Plants purify our toxic surroundings
A research project conducted by the space agency NASA in the 1980s, discovered that houseplants were able to purify polluted air and water.
The Plants for People research team have developed these original findings and have discovered that plants have a wide range of beneficial properties.
Since the 1990s, our environment has become less and less like the natural environment in which man evolved. On average, the typical man is spending a mere 21 minutes each day out of doors.
Not surprisingly, this lack of fresh air and an increasingly urban environment have led to a rise in physiological and psychological complaints.
Plants for People has shown that plants can purify water, improve workforce productivity, increase sales in shopping centres and speed recovery from illness.
The findings have demonstrated a variety of ways in which landscaping can improve man's modern day existence by providing more natural surroundings.
In addition to the environmental and health advantages, the findings illustrate significant economic savings which businesses can pass on to their customers.
