Franchise Case Study > Case Study 2
Trading began in 1997 by an ex-senior sales manager based in the North West. Initially working by himself, he has established a firm business base with a portfolio of £150k+. In order to be able to concentrate on his sales he has employed a part-time Bookkeeper, and now has one full-time and two part time employees. An extra vehicle has been added to cope with the increasing workload.
Operating well within the overhead cost forecast, secured income now covers overheads. Availability of local grants and careful buying allowed the set up costs to be kept well within budget.
When asked by a journalist why he was confident in his business future, the reply was:
“The whole Urban Planters' concept is so professional it gave me enormous confidence when dealing with clients”. He also cited that “when the client signs a contract he also signs a standing order. There is money coming in the business on a regular basis, which I’m not wasting my time having to chase”.
