Urban Planters Go Global
May 6th 2010
Urban Planters, the UK’s leading specialist in interior landscaping, are breaking into new markets with the launch of their first international branch in Madrid.
The company announced the launch of their new overseas arm in March at their Spring Conference, which gathered their 28 franchisees at plant supplier Classiflora’s nursery in Waltham Abbey.
The new Madrid branch will be headed up by Mandy Morley, who launched the business at the beginning of May.
Mandy, who worked previously as a solicitor, approached Urban Planters with a proposal to launch their first overseas operation when she realised the huge potential for interior plants in Spain.
“I really liked what Urban Planters offers as a company and felt there was a huge potential for delivering Urban Planters’ services into the Spanish capital, where currently the offering of indoor office plants and other interior landscape services is very fragmented,” said Mandy. “I am very much looking forward to showing businesses there how the right tropical plants can transform the workplace.”
Alan Page the Franchise Director for Urban Planters said: “We are all very excited about the opening of our first international Urban Planters branch. Our business has received widespread industry recognition in the UK and we are confident that our high quality plants will prove popular in Spain, too. We can’t wait to see our plant displays in the buildings of Madrid”.
This new launch marks what could be a period of rapid expansion for Urban Planters across mainland Europe, where the concept of interior landscaping is already widely recognised as having proven health and visual benefits in interior spaces.
Urban Planters has a longstanding reputation in the UK for providing high-quality, inspired schemes for all types of business. In March, Urban Planters enjoyed another successful evening at the European Federation of Interior Landscape Groups’ (eFIG) 6th annual awards ceremony, where they picked up 9 of the 33 (28%) available UK National Awards. Six of these awards were prestigious gold awards, of which only 15 were available, making Urban Planters the biggest winner of the night for the third consecutive year.
