Urban Planters Take Part in London Festival
November 5th 2010
Liz Cabble at our London West branch is legally happy!Their client, Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP, one of the top two international law firms in the country and the site of London West’s eFIG Gold Award and commendation earlier this year, invited them to take part in the London Festival, a big event facilitated just for them.
The London Festival event held in their Fleet Street complex was best described by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP as a ‘diversity of genius’ where people shared their knowledge.
Knowledge sharers include Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s business and supply partners who were selected and offered a half hour slot in the festival; Urban Planters were asked to be a ‘fringe act’* alongside other topics of interest such as the Big Issue seller who explained how he came to be homeless and a sushi chef demonstrating his skills.
“We worked with a consultant to pull together a slot (once a week for 2 weeks); the whole event was very professional and high profile with literally hundreds of talks going on, “ commented Liz.
“Every speaker had their own dedicated assistant to help with technical issues and putting up posters. The client also set up an internal booking system for staff to book places at the various talks.”
“Our talk was ‘Place that Houseplant!’, where we spoke about the benefits of plants, the science behind it and how plants can work in the home and office followed by a Q&A session at the end.”
Liz reports that both sessions were really well received and that the second week came about as a result of the success of the first. This second session was full – standing room only!
“Our talk was a bit of a ‘mouth opener’,” explained Liz “Many attendees were literally left open-mouthed by the scientific information we could give them about air pollution and the ability of desk plants to all attendees to maintain interest,” added Liz.
Our client, who is always supportive and interested in us, was delighted with the outcome and our session which was recorded by their "mystery festival shopper" for their reference, feedback and evaluation.
Haven’t you often found fringe acts at festivals to be the best?
N B. Our London West branch also won a Special Excellent Customer Service Commendation Award for their care of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP in March and was also presented along with the client with the ‘Flowers in the City Atrium’ Award by Lord Mayor of London on 1st October 2010.
Well done to Liz, Richard and the team.
*Fringe Act = i.e. non legal and of general interest to staff.
