The value of National Plants at Work Week 10 – 14th July 2017 – Guest post by efig

06 July 2017

National Plants at Work Week turns five this year, and, as usual, efig will be celebrating this campaign’s birthday by promoting the many benefits of having plants in the workplace.

There will be a sense of something old making an ‘on-trend’ appearance with our pop-up promotion which will be revealed at the beginning of NPWW week. Similarly, this year’s Favourite Office Plant of the Year, also due to be announced on 10 July, is an old favourite making a come-back.

But we are also keen to promote the whole biophilia concept and how our connection with nature is an innate need for all of us. Biophilia helps to explain how we react to plants in the workplace and probably why they improve our health and wellbeing as well as our productivity and creativity. In fact, we can’t imagine why anyone would consider working without plants in close proximity!

We will also be investigating the urban forest; that’s the number of real trees (over three metres) that members have planted in interior installations over the last year. Please join us on social media using the #urbanforest to show us yours!

efig is also distributing 100 National Plants at Work Week postcards to raise awareness of the many benefits of office plants.

We are also offering a copy of Indoor Garden Designs’ Ian Drummond’s book ‘At Home with Plants’ to the person who takes the best photo of an indoor tree sent in on social media. Over to you!

We know we can count on Urban Planters Franchises to support this week – thank you.

This year, the week has been generously sponsored by Dutch suppliers Nieuwkoop-Europe.

Keep an eye on our website and social media for news of what efig and other members are up to. Please use #NPWW or #Plantsatworkweek. See you there!
