Inventive planting brings gold-leafed success at industry awards

02 May 2017

Last Friday, the interior landscaping industry got together in London to celebrate the many inspired uses of planting in work, leisure and home spaces this year at the eFIG Awards 2017.

As indoor planting continues to evolve, it was exciting to see the many ways plants can be used to bring life to our buildings.

From planting integrated into furniture, beautiful trees, vast living walls and well-considered office plants, our industry seems to be constantly coming up with fresh ideas to work indoor plants into all manner of spaces.

For Urban Planters, it was a busy year, with our branches across the UK submitting a broad range of schemes to the annual awards.

Mosses arranged in cell-like structures at a university roof garden, trees with fairy lights and birdcages creating an enchanting atrium and a sprawling indoor garden for a new building in Leeds were among some of our award-winning schemes this year.

In all, we scooped 12 awards, including seven Gold Leaf awards; a great result against some stiff competition.

Each year, the standard seems to rise as interior landscapers get ever more creative with planting, and it really helps us to keep our ideas fresh and inventive so we can continue to compete with other industry leaders.

As we move through 2017, we look forward to more innovations in planting scheme designs but also to keep spreading the word about the many benefits of plants in the workplace.

The value they bring for businesses goes way beyond their good looks: they have been proven time and again to reduce illnesses and stress and increase happiness and productivity in the workplace.

This year, we aim to work harder at showing companies to show how plants can help their workforce and therefore their businesses. As we spend less time close to nature and more time indoors, it is important to bring something of the natural world to our interiors to maintain that vital connection, for the good of our wellbeing, as well as the bottom line.

Keep an eye on our Facebook and Google+ pages as well as our newsletters for more details on our award-winning schemes.
