In preparation for its re-opening after the COVID-19 lockdown, the Dolphin Shopping Centre in Poole approached Urban Planters to see how we could assist them in reviewing the current shopping centre’s layout, to enable a safer, socially distanced shopping experience. This would include altering the existing planting that had been in place for the past three years.
During our discussions we successfully demonstrated that plant displays could be used as healthy, green, physical barriers around the shopping centre to help shoppers maintain a safe distance from others in a way that looks and feels natural. This method is certainly a more aesthetically pleasing alternative to barriers and tape.
We also offered the centre the sustainable option to repurpose the existing plant displays, which would involve re-spraying the planters in a new colour and refurbishing some of the planting to help give the centre a fresh feel, without the need to buy lots of new product.
Our suggestions have gone down really well with the client and our proposed changes were successfully implemented in time for the re-opening.
