Leading law firm Shoosmiths has transformed its new Birmingham office with a striking plant scheme designed to complement its sleek and contemporary workspace. Spanning three floors, the installation seamlessly integrates live and replica plants, enhancing the environment with a mix of tabletop displays and towering specimens over two meters high.

The true centrepiece of the design is the 20th-floor client lounge, where a carefully curated selection of plants creates a warm, inviting atmosphere more reminiscent of a boutique café than a traditional law firm waiting area. A variety of mixed displays contribute to a relaxed yet sophisticated ambiance, reflecting Shoosmiths’ commitment to forward-thinking office design.

Understanding the importance of greenery in workplace wellbeing, Shoosmiths sought to incorporate planting throughout all areas, from client lounges to meeting rooms and working office spaces. The goal was to create a scheme that balanced innovation with the functional needs of a law firm, delivering an inspiring yet practical environment.

A delighted representative from Shoosmiths praised the finished result:
“This design and installation doesn’t disappoint in reality. It is beautifully designed and executed, and the mixture of plants has been perfectly chosen to complement the environment. Specimen plants are all stunning – Monstera, Strelitzia, and Philodendron Xanadu. The planting in the kitchen area with Zamioculcas and Asplenium is stunning, as well as the replica plants suspended over the eatery. Likewise, the Epipremnum trailing along the floor looks incredible.”

The standout feature is the ‘sunset garden,’ a carefully curated space featuring replica trees and shrubs that evoke the charm of an English garden. The overall scheme fuses practical office functionality with an engaging, biophilic design approach, ensuring that every plant—live or artificial—contributes to the aesthetic and well-being of the space.

With all plants looking vibrant and beautifully maintained, the installation has been hailed as an excellent and faultless execution, offering Shoosmiths a unique and refreshing office environment.
