As Spring gets underway, our exterior teams are gearing up for another busy season. One key element of our landscape service is biodiversity, a value at the core of our partnership with Westfield London when we created the Nature Reserve in 2020.
The Nature Reserve is an accessible and biodiverse space at Westfield London, Europe’s largest shopping centre. Wildflowers, herbs, fruit and vegetables thrive here, while insect hotels, a beehive and a pond encourage wildlife.
We are now preparing the space for Spring, as Urban Planters London and Westfield volunteers get ready to re-start the weekly sessions with local schools and to welcome visiting members of the public.
As a new season of activity begins in the nature reserve, we look forward to reconnecting people with the natural environment and nurturing a slice of biodiversity in the heart of the city.
The Nature Reserve is a great example of a project that aligns to Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield’s (URW) Better Places 2030 strategy, which focuses on three pillars; Better Spaces – Better Communities – Better Together and aims to future-proof all its assets including Westfield London. The strategy gives purpose to URW teams, supports retailers, provides sustainable experiences to visitors and shared value for local communities. This project is an example of how working together with contractors, retailers and local communities can help the local community and environment to flourish.
